Thu, 12 Feb 2009 14:14:00 +0000http://www.levisurbain.ca/?p=5151#comment-3736Les citoyens mais surtout le GIRAM exagèrent les risques réels associés à la présence de biogaz, je comprend tout de même les citoyens d’êtres choqués d’apprendre qu’il y a eu de l’enfouissement de déchets derrière leurs résidences il y a 40 ans. Mais justement cela fait plus de 40 ans. Les biogaz sont générés par la décomposition anaérobique (sans oxygène) de la matière organique. Ces biogaz sont émis en grande quantité rapidement après leur enfouissement et diminuent ensuite graduellement pour n’être plus qu’une « trace » après 30 ans. La dangerosité était beaucoup plus présente il y a 30 ou 40 ans qu’aujourd’hui. Ces pratiques d’enfouissement de déchets ont eu lieu depuis le début de la colonisation le long du fleuve pour « gagner du terrain ». Le littoral lévisien est constitués de remblais d’un bout à l’autre de la Ville et est considéré comme contaminé en grande partie à cause de son lourd passé industriel. Et il n’y a pas que Lévis à être dans cette situation, MOntréal, Québec, Trois-Rivières pour n’en nommer que quelques unes sont toutes confrontées à ce triste héritage. Peut-on retirer tout ces sols contaminés? Oui mais nous devrons aussi déplacer ou démolir tout ce qui s’est construit sur ces sites et renaturaliser le tout. Bon chantier en perspective. Heureusement, que depuis plus de vingt ans de telles pratiques d’enfouissement n’ont plus lieux. Mais elles ont été monnaie courante depuis le XVIIIe siècle. CE qui nous fait un lourd passif!
